MEET THE TEAM
Dr. Robert Waterman
Dr. Robert M. Waterman is the Director of CUNY Service Corps in the office of Career Management Office, where Dr. Waterman recruits students for the CUNY Service Corps to interview and participate in the cohort of students who will serve as ambassadors for the institution and CUNY. Students will bridge the gap between the classroom and the workforce. Students will contribute to advancing the mission of a specific service organization and learn the value of civic engagement.
Dr. Robert M. Waterman has served as Assistant to the Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs here at Medgar Evers College and Conduct Officer for three years. He has served as a substitute teacher in the Department of Education for six years in District 16. He Pastor’s Antioch Baptist Church, located in the Bedford- Stuyvesant area for 16 years. He worked in the Engineering field for over 20 years before going into education. Dr. Waterman is actively engaged in the fight against issues such as poor education, poverty, lack of jobs and limited healthcare. He serves as the President of the A.A.C.E.O., African American Clergy, and Elected Officials Organization of Brooklyn for the last 8 years. Dr. Waterman serves as the Chair of the Trustee Board of Interfaith Medical Center and Vice-Chair of the Trustee Board of One Brooklyn Health. (Interfaith, Brookdale and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Centers) Serves on Community Board # 3 for the last 10 years.
Dr. Robert M. Waterman is a graduate from Drew University, where he obtained his doctorate degree, New York Theology Seminary, Master of Divinity; Bachelor degree from Hunter College and Associates from Engenio Maria de Hostos Community College of the City University of New York. A recipient of the Belle Zeller Scholar and New York University Scholarship. All American Academic Team, Dean’s list, College Scholarship Talent Roster and Phi Theta Kappa. A life member of NAACP and Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
Ms. Christine Davis
Ms. Christine Davis is a Student Career Specialist and Data Analyst in the Office of Career Management Services at Medgar Evers College. She supports students by helping them develop their comprehensive career portfolios that highlight career interests, skills, samples of work, experiences, achievements and career goals and objectives. She is a strength-based leader who thrives on empowering others!
Ms. Davis has an array of experiences working with various populations from infants to adulthood. Her career in higher education started at Kingsborough Community College where she worked for more than four years in various capacities to include Internship Advisor, Career Advisor, Adjunct Lecturer and Chapter Advisor for the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Ms. Davis is a CUNY alumna. She graduated with an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts at City College of Technology. She received both a Bachelor of Science in Education (French/Grade 7-12) and a Master of Science in Education (School Counseling) at Brooklyn College.
Ms. Vivian Burns
Ms. Vivian Burns is the Front Office Administrator in the Office of Career Management Services. She handles the day-to-day operations of the front office from assisting students with utilizing the career management system Symplicty to working with external vendors on key products and services that keep the office functioning. Ms. Burns strives to maintain a professional image while working with faculty and staff and preparing students to succeed in college and in their chosen career path. Each day she fulfills the University’s mission and promotes policies and procedures that benefit students, faculty and community engagement.
Ms. Burns has 24 years of corporate and academic experience. She served as Diversity, Multicultural and Affirmative Action Assistant to the Chief Diversity and Conflict of Interest Officer at Medgar Evers College for 6 years as well as 4 years in Human Resources and 2 years in Liberal Arts where she supervised the work study students and College Assistants. She also worked as the Residential Manager for the Federation of Multicultural Puerto Rican Organization for 5 years.
Ms. Burns is very active in the community and supports initiatives that are focused on empowering populations that are often discriminated against. She has worked with women’s organizations and on campaigns such as the Me Too and Enough is Enough movements for the past 11 years.
Ms. Burns’ enthusiastic demeanor while providing services to students is top notch! She is an exemplary alumna of Medgar Evers College, where she obtained both a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy and Law and an Associate of Science in Public Administration.
